1. Gaya (Bodhgaya) : 

First, remove the misconception from a mind that Gaya and Bodh Gaya are the same places. No, they are not. Bodh Gaya 16 km far from Gaya, is a village famous for its Buddhist association and holistic temples or monasteries. It is a religious site and place of pilgrims associated with the Mahabodhi temple complex. Whereas Gaya is known for Hindu Temples and Pind Daan(The offering of libations of water to the gods), it is the same place where Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment under a tree, which is now known as Bodhi Tree.
